Australian Open: Roger Federer beats Britain's Dan Evans in 2nd round clash

Melbourne, Jan 16 (IBNS): Swiss Tennis master Roger Federer defeated Britain's Dan Evans in the second-round clash of the Australian Open here on Wednesday.

Federer reached the next round after an entertaining battle against the Briton.

Federer defeated his opponent 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-3) 6-3. 

The 20-time Grand Slam champion was given a tough battle on the court by his opponent.

The Swiss player will now face Taylor Fritz in the third round of the first major Grand Slam of the year.

"I couldn't pull away early in the match - it helps when you can sneak in a quick break," Federer was quoted as saying by BBC.
