Bangladesh selectors name Shakib Al Hasan as Test captain

Dhaka, Dec 10 (IBNS): Bangladesh selectors have named Shakib Al Hasan as the new Test skipper of the national side.

He will replace Mushfiqur Rahim.

The decision was taken during the 2nd Meeting of the BCB Board of Directors on Sunday.

He will lead the side during the series against Sri Lanka in January 2018.

" The Board has decided to appoint Shakib Al Hasan as Captain of the Bangladesh Test team. The 30-year-old, who replaces Mushfiqur Rahim, will begin his second stint as Test captain with the series against Sri Lanka in January 2018 having earlier led the side from 2009 to 2011," read a BCB statement.

The Board also named Mahmudullah Riyad as Vice-Captain of the Test team.  

However, name of no new coach has been announced.

The post remained vacant since Sri Lankan  Chandika Hathurusingha resigned recently.
