CWG Birmingham: India's Sanket Mahadev Sargar wins silver medal in weightlifting men's 55 category event

Birmingham: India registered their first medal win in the ongoing Commonwealth Games as Sanket Mahadev Sargar clinched the silver medal in the men's 55kg category weightlifting event on Saturday.

He finished off the medal victory with a  total lift of 248 kgs.

Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq won the gold medal.

He lifted 249kg (107kg+142kg) to end the event at the topmost position in the list.

The silver medal was won by Sri Lanka's Dilanka Isuru Kumara.

He stood in third position with a total lift of 225kg (105kg+120kg).
