One-off Test: India win match by 208 runs

Hyderabad, Feb 13 (IBNS): Virat Kohli and his men in white registered yet another big win, this time against Bangladesh, to lift the trophy in the one off Test with Bangladesh, on Monday.

India humbled their neighbours by 208 runs.

By virtue of this win, India also registered their sixth consecutive series win in white clothes.

The stage was set for Kohli and his men as Ashwin and Jadeja broke into the Bangladeshi top order late on day four.

Needing just seven wickets to seal off the Test, Ravindra Jadeja drew first blood, removing Shakib Al Hasan early in the day.

Al Hasan, who was caught off Jadeja, managed to contribute 22 runs, including four boundaries

Mahmudullah Riyad, who stitched a 56-run partnership with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, held fort with a well-compiled half century.

Rahim however gave away his wicket following a flurry of shots against Ravichandran Ashwin.

The offspinner had the last laugh as he induced the Bangladeshi skipper to come down the track and chip one straight to Ravindra Jadeja for an easy catch.

Rahim's innings of 23 runs from 44 balls consisted off two fours and a six.

Riyad forged another 51-run partnership with Sabbir Rahman, before the later was trapped in front by Ishant Sharma for 22 runs.

In a hostile spell of fast bowling, Sharma also managed to grab the wicket of Mahmudullah Riyad, removing him with a well-directed short pitched ball.

Riyad's 149-ball vigil yielded 64 runs, embellished with seven boundaries.

For India, the spin duo shared the remaining eight wickets -- Ashwin and Jadeja sharing four each.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli had won the toss and elected to bat first.

By virtue of Virat's double-century and centuries from Wriddhiman Saha and Murali Vijay, India managed a steep total of 687 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Bangladesh replied with 388 runs, riding on the knock of Mushfiqur Rahim's 127 and twin half centuries from Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan.

The Indians stacked another 159 runs as they batted for the second time, setting Bangladesh a target of 459 runs.

India's cause was helped by quick fire knocks from Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli, with Pujara reaching yet another half century, his second of the match.

Virat Kohli was adjudged the Man of the Match for his record breaking knock.

Earlier on day two, he became the first batsman to score four consecutive double hundreds in equal number of series, passing the likes of Sir Donald Bradman and Rahul Dravid.
