Rafael Nadal beats Novak to clinch lift French Open title

Paris, June 8 (IBNS): After a strong four-set battle battle, Spain's Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the final of the men's singles event to lift the French Open here on Sunday.

Nadal extended his great show at Roland Garros as he defeated his opponent 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4 in the three hours and 31 minutes contest.

Hunting for his first French Open title, Novak started the contest strongly by beating Nadal 3-6.

Nadal, however, used his experience and skills to good use to beat the Serbian Tennis icon in the later three sets abd defend the title.

Nadal became the  first player ever to clinch a major title nine times.

With Sunday's victory,he also took his Grand Slam total to 14.
