SAF games to held in Guwahati and Shillong from Feb 6-16

Guwahati, Oct 25 (IBNS) : The South Asian Federation (SAF) games will be held in Guwahati and Shillong from Feb 6 to 16 next year.

Addressing a press conference held in Guwahati jointly organized by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Assam Olympic Association (AOA), Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and IOA Secretary General Rajiv Mehta said the Union government will shoulder the major responsibility of organizing the games.

“The Assam and Meghalaya government will only act as fecilitator,” the IOA Secretary General said.

More than 4000 athletes of eight countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and host India will participant in the multi-sporting event.

“There would be 25 disciplines, with 17 of them scheduled to be held in Guwahati and rest 8 in Shillong,” the Assam CM said.
