Charleston, April 11 (IBNS) Indian Tennis icon Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Martina Hingis reached the semi-finals of the Family Circle Cup by beating Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan here on Friday.

The Indo-Swiss pair defeated the opponents 7-5, 4-6, 13-11.

The match lasted for an hour and 41 minutes.

"They played really well - they were defending champions here, so we knew we had to come out with our best tennis," Hingis was quoted as saying by wtatennis.com.

"It's still a long year, but I think if you start like this you'll give yourself more chances to qualify," Hingis said.
