Shocked: Harbhajan Singh tweets on Andrew Symonds' death

Mumbai: Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh on Sunday said he was left 'shocked' by the death of Aussie cricket star Andrew Symonds.

"Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Andrew Symonds. Gone too soon. Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. Prayers for the departed soul  #RIPSymonds," he tweeted.

Former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds, who was part of 2003 and 2007 World Cup winning squads, died in a road mishap on Saturday, Cricket Australia confirmed.

He was 46.

Andrew Symonds died following a single-car accident outside Townsville on Saturday night.

He died just months after Aussie spinning legend Shane Warne passed away.

Harbhajan Singh was involved in the Monkeygate scandal with Symonds.

Harbhajan Singh was banned by the ICC for three matches because of a racist remark against Andrew Symonds in the Monkeygate scandal in 2008 Sydney Test.

India appealed against the decision and there was a team wanting to come back.

However, Harbhajan survived a ban and was imposed 50 percent of his match fee.

However, all differences between the two were later solved and they played together for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
