New York, Sept 12 (IBNS) After a dual shock in the Women’s Singles semifinals, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer held their might to prevent any further upset and won their respective matches, setting up a big ‘Sunday final’ in the process, here on day 12.

In a game lasting one hour and twenty-five minutes, Novak, taking on the defending champion, Marin Cilic of Croatia, unleashed a brutal game-play to maul his opponent 6-0 in the first of the three sets. Cilic won a game in the next to lose it 1-6. He doubled his efforts in the third set by winning two games, handing the set and the match to the current world number one.

Novak has previously won 9 Grand slam Singles title.

In an all-Swiss semifinal, Roger Federer upended Stanislas Wawrinka, as the former world number one won the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 to advance towards his 18th Grand Slam win.

The 2008 Olympic Gold medalist will lock horn with his rival of recent years Novak Djokovic for the coveted trophy on Sunday.
