Donald Trump tweets and invites Kim Jong Un for a meeting in demilitarized zone

Washington, June 29 (IBNS/UNI): US President Donald Trump on Saturday made a crucial offer to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as he said he invited him to shake hands 'and say hello' in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

" After some very important meetings, including my meeting with President Xi of China, I will be leaving Japan for South Korea (with President Moon). While there, if Chairman Kim of North Korea sees this, I would meet him at the Border/DMZ just to shake his hand and say Hello(?)! ," the American leader tweeted.

The invitation was made at a time when Trump met several world leaders, including Indian PM Narendra Modi, at the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Japan.

Trump is due to arrive in Seoul, South Korea, on Saturday evening, and is scheduled for talks with the South Korean President on Sunday before returning to Washington.

Trump and Kim met in February in Hanoi, Vietnam, to talk about denuclearization. It ended abruptly with no deal.

But since then they've said nice things about each other in public. Last week, Kim said he'd received a letter with "excellent content" from Trump. A couple of weeks earlier Trump said Kim had sent him a "beautiful" letter for the president's 73rd birthday.
