Dutch tram shooting: Several hurt, police say they are considering a 'terror motive'in the incident

Utrecht, Mar 18 (IBNS): Several people were injured in a shooting incident in a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht, near Amsterdam, on Monday, police said.

The latest incident occurred just days after a terror attack on two mosques in New Zealand city of Christchurch left 50 people killed. 

Meanwhile, Dutch police said any possible 'terrorist motif' is part of the investigation into the tram attack incident.

"The police is investigating the shooting at the #24oktoberplein in Utrecht this morning. An possible terrorist motif is part of the investigation," the local police tweeted.

The exact number of injured people in the incident is still not known.

Some local media reports said one person died in the attack.

"A shooting occurred on the #24oktoberplein in #Utrecht. The incident has been reported at 10.45 hour. Multiple people have been injured. The surrounding area has been cordoned off and we are investigating the matter," police tweeted.

Police asked people not to visit the site of the shooting.

Police have not taken any suspects into custody, according to Joost Lanshage, spokesman for the police in central Holland, reported CNN.

Police operation is currently going on.

Three rescue helicopters have reacehd the scene.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte told CNN's affiliate RTL that he was "very concerned" about the incident.
