Lagos, Jun 19 (Xinhua/UNI) Unidentified gunmen kidnapped the son of Nigeria's former health minister Isaac Adewole in the southwest town of Iroko, a local police source told Xinhua on Wednesday.

The gunmen stormed Dayo Adewole's farm in Iroko, near Fiditi in Afijio area of Oyo State Tuesday evening and kidnapped him, the source said on condition of anonymity.

No group immediately claimed the abduction yet, the source said, adding that the police are investigating the incident.

Adewole was the immediate health minister in the first term cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan and president of the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer.
