Prince Harry and Meghan: Talks 'progressing well' over the future of the Royal couple
London/IBNS: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex- Harry and Meghan Markle- have expressed their hopes that talks over their future roles in the Royal Family may be concluded "sooner rather than later", PA news agency said quoting sources as reported by BBC.
Meetings are said to be "progressing well", with the UK and Canadian governments consulted, reported BBC.
Meghan returned to Canada to join her child Archie.
Taking a six-week break from royal duty, the family spent Christmas in the country and then returned to the UK on Tuesday.
The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge have asked senior staff to work with the Sussex household and government to find a solution within days, according to BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell.
Speaking about the duke and duchess, a source told PA news agency as reported by BBC, "They, like everyone, are hopeful this can all be worked out, sooner rather than later.
"It is in everyone's interest for this to be figured out, and figured out quickly, but not at the expense of the outcome," the source said.
The couple earlier said they plan to step back as senior royals.
Palace sources have told BBC that Prince Harry and Meghan did not consult any other royal about making their personal statement.
In their recent announcement, the couple said they want to work to become financially independent.
"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen," read the statement.
"It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages," it said.
"This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support," read the statement.
