Moscow May 24 (Sputnik/UNI) Theresa May's term as UK prime minister took place during a difficult time for UK-Russian relations, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Friday, after May announced her resignation.

May said earlier on Friday she would step down as the leader of the Conservative Party on June 7.

"Unfortunately, I cannot, off the top of my head, remember any landmarks linked to the contribution to the development of Russian-UK bilateral relations.
In fact, the other way around, the prime minister term of Mrs May has taken place during a very, very difficult time in our bilateral relations," Peskov told reporters, when asked to assess May's role in Russian-UK relations.
