London, Feb 11 (IBNS): The US and the Britain have suspended operations and moved their staffers out of Yemen due to security situation in the country.

"Due to uncertain security situation in Yemen, we have suspended our embassy operations; embassy staff have been relocated out of Sana’a," the US State Department tweeted on Wednesday.

The US also urged its citizens to defer plans to travel to Yemen and those currently present in the country to depart.

In a statement, the British Foreign Office said: "The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) continue to advise against all travel to Yemen and strongly urge British nationals to leave immediately."

"The security situation in Yemen has continued to deteriorate over recent days. Due to increased risk, diplomatic staff have been withdrawn and the operations of the British Embassy in Sana’a temporarily suspended," it said.

"The British Government will not be able to evacuate you if you remain in Yemen against this advice," read the statement.
