Bank fraud case: CBI books Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath's nephew Ratul Puri, others

New Delhi, Aug 18 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday said it has registered a case against Moser Baer India Limited (MBIL) and conducted raids at six places to nab its current and former officials for cheating the Central Bank of India to the tune of Rs 354.51 crore.

 

The CBI said, "It is conducting searches today at six places including the office of Moser Baer India Ltd at Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi and at residential premises of present and former Directors of the company in New Delhi."

The CBI has registered the case on Saturday against the company; present and former officials of the company; unknown public servants and unknown private persons on the allegations of cheating and defrauding banks.

According to the CBI official, Deepak Puri, Managing Director of MBIL, his wife Nita Puri, whole-time director of MBIL, son Ratul Puri, former executive director of MBIL, Sanjay Jain, director, Vineet Sharma, director, and other unidentified public servants and private persons were booked on charges of criminal conspiracy for cheating, forgery and criminal misconduct.

"They were booked on Saturday on a complaint filed by Murali Chetturi, Deputy General Manager of Central Bank of India. Chetturi alleged in his complaint that the accused persons cheated Central Bank of India to the tune of Rs 354.51 crore," the officer said.

Nita Puri is the sister of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Ratul Puri is his nephew.

Ratul Puri is also under the scanner for allegedly receiving kickbacks in the AgustaWestland deal through his companies.
