Raipur/IBNS: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday raided former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the Mahadev betting app case, media reports said.

The raids were conducted in Baghel's two residences in Raipur and Bhilai.

The raids took place ahead of Baghel's scheduled meeting at the Congress headquarters in Delhi.

The former CM's office has put up a tweet that reads, "Now CBI has come. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is scheduled to go to Delhi today for the meeting of the “Drafting Committee” constituted for the AICC meeting to be held in Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on 8 and 9 April. Even before that, CBI has reached Raipur and Bhilai residence. (Office-Bhupesh Baghel)."

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has so far attached, seized and frozen assets worth Rs. 2,295 in the Mahadev betting app case.

Earlier this month, the ED raided Baghel and his son Chaitanya Baghel's residences in the multi-crore liquor scam.

The scam had allegedly led to the unaccounted sale of country liquor from state-run shops leading to a massive loss to the state exchequer.

The ED claims, as per reports, the entire money was siphoned by the syndicates.
