'Gyanesh Kumar will not escape': Rahul Gandhi issues warning amid voting rights row
New Delhi/IBNS: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has intensified his attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, warning him of action amid protests in the national capital over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Rahul claimed that Gyanesh Kumar was unable to sleep at night because of guilt over allegedly depriving millions of people of their voting rights.
Addressing a press conference, the Congress leader said, "We know about Gyanesh Kumar's condition. We know that he is unable to sleep at night. People are questioning the way in which he has stripped millions of people of their rights.
"Gyanesh Kumar will not escape, and I am saying this directly to him. We have information about you. We know your past, we know all about your corruption. We are waiting."
We have information about you. We know your past, we know all about your corruption. We are waiting. : नेता विपक्ष श्री @RahulGandhi 📍 दिल्ली

Rahul Gandhi targets Gyanesh Kumar
Rahul's remarks came amid mounting political tensions over allegations of irregularities in the electoral process.
The Congress and other Opposition parties have accused the Election Commission of compromising voters' rights, allegations that remain politically contested.
The Congress leader issued a direct warning to the Chief Election Commissioner, alleging corruption and asserting that he would be held accountable.
Opposition plans march to Supreme Court
Rahul made the remarks ahead of a planned Opposition march to the Supreme Court on Monday afternoon.
The proposed march comes amid demonstrations in Delhi over the alleged electoral irregularities and demands for accountability from the Chief Election Commissioner.
Supreme Court intervenes over Delhi crackdown
The Supreme Court on Sunday, October 11, 2026, directed authorities to stop illegal detentions of peaceful protesters and restore normal public transport and internet services in Delhi following the police crackdown ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests.
A special bench comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana also sought explanations from senior officials over alleged violations of the court's earlier directions.
Protests over CEC Gyanesh Kumar
Meanwhile, Delhi remained the centre of demonstrations over the weekend, with Opposition leaders and CJP workers demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
More than 3,000 protesters, including politicians, were detained on Saturday and released later that night.
Police imposed extensive security restrictions across the national capital to prevent demonstrators from gathering at Jantar Mantar.
The restrictions forced protesters to split into smaller groups and assemble at different locations across Delhi.
YouTube commentator Dhruv Rathee was among those released late on Saturday night. Known for his criticism of the NDA government, Rathee has also expressed support for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
