Haryana BJP leader shot dead by neighbour over land dispute, incident caught on camera

Chandigarh/IBNS: Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Surendra Jawahar was on Friday shot dead by his neighbour over a land dispute in the Sonipat district, media reports said.

Jawahar, who was the BJP's Mundlana Mandal president, was reportedly shot dead at 9:30 pm inside a shop where the victim was chased to by the accused.

In the CCTV camera, Jawahar was seen entering into the shop shouting 'I have been killed' followed by the accused who eventually fired three bullets at the BJP leader.

Police said the accused, who has been identified as Munna, warned Jawahar over setting a foot on a land, which the BJP leader had allegedly bought in the name of the suspect's aunt.

On Friday night, Jawahar went to clear the land when the suspect got enraged and shot him.

Jawahar's uncle Sultan Singh, who was the eyewitness, shared the details of the dispute.

Singh said Jawahar was in a long standing dispute with the accused over the land which is subjudice.

He claimed Jawahar had paid Rs. 5 lakh to Mannu but the accused was reluctant to transfer the land in the name of the victim.
