High tide, heavy rainfall in Mumbai, residents asked to avoid sea, water-logged areas

Mumbai, Aug 3 (IBNS): People living in Mumbai have been advised to avoid going near sea as high tide has been forecasted, media reports said.

People have also been advised to avoid water-logged areas as heavy rain has thrown life out of gear.

A Twitter handle of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) dedicated for Mumbai's Monsson woes said, "As per IMD, there is a warning of heavy rainfall today along with a high tide of 4.90 meters at 1.44 PM We appeal citizens to avoid venturing near sea or walking in water logged areas. In any emergency call us on 1916"

Areas like J B Nagar Andheri E,  Kandivali E Stn Rd, Dahisar Highway, Hindmata near Lower Parel, Samta Nagar and Chincholi Port Rd are water-logged, Mumbai Police informed.

The train services are also affected by the rain.

Mumbai Police have asked people to dial 100 in case of any emergency.

"As per weather forecast, Intense spells of rain likely to continue in the next 4 hrs and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hrs. We request Mumbaikars to take adequate precautions & ensure safety. #Dial100 in case of any emergency. Take care Mumbai" Mumbai Police tweeted.
