India ships six-bedded container-based dialysis to Kirbiti

India has shipped a six-bedded container-based Dialysis Unit to Tarawa, Kiribati.

The container was shipped from the Mundra Port.

Speaking on the assistance, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X: "Standing together with the Pacific Islands family - helping strengthen the healthcare system of Kiribati."

"Fulfilling 's commitment made at FIPIC III Summit: a consignment of 6-bedded container-based Dialysis Unit departed from Mundra Port for Tarawa, Kiribati ," he said.

He said India also sent a second humanitarian assistance to Botswana.

"In the wake of floods in , the first tranche of approx 10 tons of assistance comprising essential medicines, surgical supplies, mosquito nets, water purifiers, etc was dispatched for Botswana," he said.

According to its official website, the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) is a multinational grouping developed in 2014 for cooperation between India and 14 Pacific Islands nations which include Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

It was launched during PM Narendra Modi's visit to Fiji in November 2014.
