Lieutenant General Tumul Varma takes over General Officer Commanding 101 Area in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jul 22 (IBNS): Lieutenant General Tumul Varma has taken over as the General Officer Commanding of 101 Area with effect from July 22. 

Commissioned into the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering in December 1984, the General Officer has had an illustrious career spanning 35 years.

He has been a military observer as part of the United Nations Mission in Somalia besides commanding an Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Battalion.

He has tenated important staff appointments at the Army Headquarters and various Command and Corps Headquarters dealing with Operational Logistics, Training and Financial Planning.

He has also been an Instructor at the prestigious Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.

The General Officer on assuming the command of 101 Area the 'First in Dacca Formation' paid his tribute to the gallant martyrs of the Indian Army.
