NF Railway introduces special reservation coaches for women passengers
Guwahati, Aug 2 (IBNS): In a bid to provide better security and safety to women passengers, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) has started special reservation coaches for women passengers in few passenger trains.
Initially, the NF Railway has started the special reservation coaches with pink colour for women passengers in the passenger trains between Guwahati and Bongaigaon.
The new initiative has been taken by the NF Railway to provide safety and security to women passengers in view of the rising crimes against women.
The NF Railway has also deployed Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans and ticket checking staff in the special reservation coaches.
According to the NF Railway, the new initiative has been introduced in the passenger trains – the Manas Rhino Passenger (55801), Guwahati New Bongaigaon Passenger (55809/55810), New Bongaigaon – Guwahati Passenger Special (05813/05814) and New Bongaigaon Jn-Guwahati Chilarai Passenger (55805).
Chief Public Relations Officer of NF Railway Pranav Jyoti Sharma said that, the NF Railway is planning to start the special reservation coaches for women passengers in other high density routes also.
“The NF Railway has taken an initiative as introducing special reservation coaches in the passenger trains to provide security and facility for women passengers in the high density route of Guwahati to Bongaigaon. To identify the coaches, we have painted it by pink colour. We have also deployed RPF jawans and ticket checking staff in these coaches. We are also planning to reserve at least one coach in each passenger train in all high density routes,” Pranav Jyoti Sharma said.
