President Murmu, PM Modi greet people on Eid-ul-Fitr

New Delhi/IBNS: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Murmu posted on X, "I extend my greetings to all my fellow countrymen, especially my Muslim brothers and sisters, on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

"This festival strengthens the spirit of brotherhood and conveys the message of compassion, goodwill, and charity. I pray that this festival brings peace, prosperity, and happiness to everyone's life and instills in everyone's hearts the spirit of moving forward on the path of goodness."

Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, "Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival enhance the spirit of hope, harmony and kindness in our society. May there be joy and success in all your endeavours."

Eid-ul-Fitr, which is one of the main Islamic festivals, marks the culmination of the month-long fasting of Ramadan.

It is celebrated worldwide.

As per the Muslim traditions, Muhammad started the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

As per various reports and accounts, the festival started after Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina.

Among other administrative people who wished people, especially Muslims, on the occasion are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's post on X reads, "The Chief Minister said that the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr brings the message of happiness and harmony. This festival of happiness strengthens social unity and increases the feeling of mutual brotherhood. This festival gives the message of peace and harmony. On this festival, everyone should take a pledge to further strengthen harmony and social harmony."

Mamata Banerjee wrote, "Happy Eid!!! My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr."

Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X, "Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr! Let there be peace and prosperity all around. May the virtues of kindness and brotherhood always prevail."
