Mumbai/IBNS: The Mumbai Police on Thursday recorded the statements of seven people including influencers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Mukhija in connection with a First Information Report [FIR] filed against them over popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia's controversial "sex with parents" remark on Samay Raina's comedy show India's Got Latent.

Apoorva, who was a co-panelist on the show, recorded her statement with police on Wednesday. She also faced backlash on the internet over her sexually loaded comments.

Ranveer, who has apologised for his remark, is expected to record his statement with police soon.

What is the controversy about?

During the latest episode of Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent, Ranveer asked a contestant about the size of his p***s and then asked him to suck his d**k.

Ranveer was heard saying in a viral video, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?"

Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina and content creator Ashish Chanchlani, who were the co-panelists, were flabbergasted while they were laughing.

The remark has not only irked the social media users with several of them being his followers, an official complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and Maharashtra Women's Commission against the podcaster.

Action against Ranveer Allahbadia

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina and India's Got Latent producers on February 17 over alleged derogatory comments made in the show.

Taking exception to the comments, the NCW has said these violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that claims to uphold equality and mutual respect.

Besides Allahbadia and Raina, those summoned include social media influencer Apoorva Makhija and the show's producers, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra.

Maharashtra's cyber cell unit filed an FIR against Allahbadia and all the people involved from Episode 1 to 6 of India's Got Latent - including guests.

According to reports, 40 people have been named in the FIR.

The process of sending notices to each has started and everyone will be called to record their statements.

Three different groups and people had filed police complaints against Allahbadia in Maharashtra over his 'sex' remark.
